Nan Irick, 52, who had spent the past three years substitute-teaching at Washington-Lee High School in Arlington County, died of cardiac arrest Oct. 14 at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington.
She had been an editor at the defense contractor Automation Research Systems, did freelance journalism on the Washington music scene and was a booking agent at local clubs. She was a member of the Arlington Arts Council and a founding member of a benefit show series at Washington-Lee High School.
Survivors include her husband of 24 years, Christopher N. Irick, and their two children, C. Brittain Irick and Kate Irick, all of Arlington; a daughter from her first marriage, Jennifer Trezza of Denver; her parents, retired Army Gen. Arthur E. Brown Jr. and Jerry Brown, of Hilton Head Island, S.C.; a brother, Arthur E. Brown III of Washington; and a sister, Marian Shope of Melbourne, Fla.
